Oslo: Grünerløkka Food & Culture Walking Tour

2.Grünerløkka Food & Culture Walking Tour

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 204 reviews · 2h 30m · from $166

Taste Norway’s wild side in Grünerløkka, from Mathallen to Akerselva river, with reindeer, moose, whale, beer, and heart-shaped waffles.

“Kristian our Guide was great history and story teller. We had plenty of food along the way as we did a circuit around east and west of Mathallen after starting at the great indoor eating place. We were all dressed for the weather, rainy rain! The surprise was Toyen Cola, delightful and tasty cola. The local beer was very moorish and went well with our snacks to start with. I highly recommend this tour and this guide. It was relaxed wandering and learning and experiencing new stuff. I will certainly go and find the ‘hot dog’ and ‘the waffle’ place again for seconds!”

“Our tour guide, Margarita, was lovely and shared so many interesting facts about Oslo. Lots of walking, a bit uphill, that we enjoyed due to all the eating! Highly recommended! The fish soup at the first stop (before the 1 hour walking and exploring) was so incredible we went back for dinner (Fiskeriet). Thank you!”

Oslo: Norwegian Food Tour & Hidden Gems City Walk

4.Norwegian Food Tour & Hidden Gems City Walk

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 73 reviews · 3 hours (approx.) · from $172

A small-group Oslo food and city walk with fish soup, farm-to-table lunch, and a warm waffle finale plus quieter neighborhoods.

“This is tough to review as we had a decent time, but it is not what one would expect on a food and hidden gems tour. We visited 3 places, no beverages were included besides tap water and learned nothing of this great city. Even many of our questions (i.e. the significance of the tiger statue at the train station) could not be answered and no talk about the history of Norway/Oslo, the waterfront development, why they consistently rank as one of the happiest countries... There was also little discussion about the types of food we were eating.”

“We loved our day with Minji on the food tour! The five food stops covered a broad range of food in Oslo. We particularly loved our first stop, which was at a lunch restaurant. We were served a substantial portion of elk, moose, reindeer, fish, and local vegetables. Minji was delightful and we truly enjoyed getting to know her. Grünerløkka walking food tour in Oslo with 6 tastings, coffee or beer, street art stops, and a friendly small group.

“This was such a fun way to see Oslo and try some of its signature foods! Plus it got me out of the city center. The neighborhood is very fun and has a lot a good history. Though it's a food-centered tour, there were still a few stops and information on some of the great street art and history of the neighborhood. The tour guide Matthias was very knowledgeable, great at communicating, and responsive to our needs and asks. It was nice to get started with coffee, sodas, and pastries and introduce ourselves to the group. Everything was great from the hot dog, waffles, small bites (cheese, charcuterie, salmon, crab,…”
